How can we improve production costs when making our product? Will increasing the minimum wage bring people out of poverty? How does discrimination affect the workforce?

These are a few of the questions Wahoo High School students pondered at UNL’s 2016 Economics Day for Students. 

Eighteen WHS students, along with business teacher Barb Shanahan, attended the UNL Economics Day on Wednesday, November 9, 2016. The day was sponsored and led by the Nebraska Council on Economics and the UNL College of Business Administration. 

The day consisted of many hands-on economic simulations involving production costs, minimum wage, and discrimination in the workforce.

The students were able to experience a taste of college life by eating lunch in the school cafeteria in Selleck Hall. The nice fall weather then allowed them to take a student ambassador led tour of the campus. This included visits to Memorial Stadium, a dorm room, and the new library.
