WHS junior's design selected for Stock Market Game t-shirt
Schubauer chosen from state-wide entries to support NE Council on Economic Education's annual competition
It’s a bull market . . . The product is inelastic . . . Let’s buy on the margin.
These sentences make sense to students enrolled in Mrs. Barb Shanahan’s economics class.
The WHS econ students recently participated in a 15-week stock market simulation sponsored by the Nebraska Council on Economic Education.
Students worked in teams, with each team receiving $100,000 to invest.
“Even though we didn’t have any big winners this semester, the students were exposed to the stock market and how it works,” Shanahan commented.
The Stock Market Game also allowed students to show their creative sides. Each year the Nebraska Council on Economic Education chooses a t-shirt design from one of the participating students, and for the second year in a row, a Wahoo High School student created the winning design!
This year the winner was WHS junior Bailee Schubauer.
Because of her winning design, Schubauer and Shanahan were invited to attend the Banquet of Champions in Lincoln at the Nebraska Alumni Club, where each person in attendance was given a t-shirt with her design on it. Guest speaker at the event was Governor Dave Heineman. Schubauer also received $50 for her winning entry.
