WHS Teachers Travel to Washington DC and Philadelphia to Learn History

While students were on summer break, two WHS teachers were busy learning new information to take back into their classrooms. Ryan Mueller and Darold Foster both had the opportunity to travel to Washington D.C. and Philadelphia in June to experience history first hand. They traveled with a group of teachers from the area in a program called “The Constitution in American History.” CIAH is funded by a grant through ESU #2.

During the first four days of the trip, Mueller and Foster traveled throughout the nation’s capital experiencing private monument tours, a segway tour of the city, a grounds tour of Mount Vernon, and a teacher education program through the Bill of Rights Institute. The education program provided valuable resources that teachers can take back into their classrooms.

During the last three days of the trip the teachers traveled to Philadelphia. While in Philadelphia they had the opportunity to tour the National Constitution Center and learn about Independence Hall, where both the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution were signed. Overall the trip provided excellent firsthand knowledge and resources that will ultimately benefit the students at Wahoo High School.
