Caples/Swanson/Zeleny/Maldaner come out on top in 2016 Stock Market Game!
Schaefer creates winning t-shirt design
Once again Wahoo High School Economics students were bullish on the stock market this year! Twenty-Six teams, comprised of students from Mrs. Shanahan’s Business Economics classes, took part in the 2016 Nebraska Stock Market Game, investing $100,000 in stocks, mutual funds, and bonds.
The students this year were extremely conservative, and it took some prodding to get them to spend their money. This conservatism might be what allowed all but two of the 26 teams to post a profit for the 15-week period!
Wahoo’s top team placed 26th out of 372 teams from across the state, turning their original investment into $112,671.96. This team consisted of Dylan Caples, Jacobi Swanson, Eli Zeleny and Corbin Maldaner.
This year's winning t-shirt design for the 2016 Stock Market Game was created by WHS junior Cannan Schaefer.
Also a winner this year was Cannan Schaefer, who had the winning t-shirt design for the Stock Market Game. Cannan, along with his dad and Mrs. Shanahan, attended the Banquet of Champions on May 4, 2016 at the Nebraska Alumni Champions Club in Lincoln, where all attending were given a t-shirt with Cannan’s design. Cannan also received an autographed copy of the book Pirates of Financial Freedom by keynote speaker Joey Fehrman, and a $50 stipend from the Nebraska Council on Economics.
