WHS Science Instructor Secures Two Different Grants for 2009-2010
Funds Used to Enhance Student Learning
Steven Shannon, a science teacher at Wahoo High School, has been awarded multiple grants for the 2009-2010 school year from the American Chemical Society and the Hach (ACS-Hach) Programs High School Chemistry Outreach program and from the Southeast Nebraska Area Health Education Center (SE-AHEC).
The ACS-Hach grant was a $1,500 grant awarded to assist with the purchase of the Vernier Lab interfaces that are currently being used in the Wahoo High School science programs.
The SE-AHEC grant was a $250 grant awarded for "Continuation of Life Saving Skills" for the Wahoo High School anatomy classes for the purchase of manikins, face shields and lung bags for student CPR/First Aid/AED certification training.
Mary Specht, the school nurse for Wahoo Public Schools, also was a tremendous asset in receiving the SE-AHEC grant.
