WHS Digital Media class visits new Ralston Arena
Students learn about arena's video controls & field career opportunities
WHS students listen to Keith Craig, the Technical Services Manager at the Ralston Arena, discuss the computer systems that control all of the lighting, video, and sound in the arena. Mr. Craig talked about how many people were needed in these areas to work a hockey game or a concert. Two freelance video/camera workers also talked to the class about some of the things that they are doing with their careers.
Mr. Scheef's Digital Media class took a field trip to the Ralston Arena on Thursday, October 24.
The students were given a tour of the arena, which opened in October of 2012. One of the purposes of the visit was to see the Video Control room, which controls all of the video and lights for the arena, as well as to learn about various careers in the Digital Media field.
Paul Hendrickson, the General Manager of the Ralston Arena, talks to the class. Mr. Hendrickson gave a great motivational talk to the kids about following their passions, being friends to everyone they meet, and to work hard and be good at whatever you do. Hendrickson talked about his career and how he got to this point in his career. He has had a very interesting career that included touring with Jerry Lee Lewis, and more recently, managing Reliant Stadium in Houston, Texas.
