Logan Scott named Wahoo's latest "Commended Student" in 2023 National Merit Scholarship Program
WHS senior added to the ranks of students recognized for academic excellence
WHS Principal Vernon Golladay announced today that Logan Scott has been named a Commended Student in the 2023 National Merit Scholarship Program. A Letter of Commendation from the school and National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC), which conducts the program, will be presented by Mr. Golladay to this scholastically talented senior.
"It is great to see Logan recognized by National Merit for his work in the classroom. Logan is a tremendous representative for Wahoo High School and I am excited to watch his continued success after he graduates high school," Golladay said.
About 34,000 Commended Students throughout the nation are being recognized for their exceptional academic promise. Although they will not continue in the 2023 competition for National Merit Scholarship awards, Commended Students placed among the top 50,000 students who entered the 2023 competition by taking the 2021 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test(PSAT/NMSQT).
“Those being named Commended Students have demonstrated outstanding potential for academic success,” commented a spokesperson for NMSC. “These students represent a valuable national resource; recognizing their accomplishments, as well as the key role their schools play in their academic development, is vital to the advancement of educational excellence in our nation. We hope that this recognition will help broaden their educational opportunities and encourage them as they continue their pursuit of academic success.”
Scott joins a growing list of WHS students to be honored by the NMSC, which includes 14 finalists and semifinalists.
"I am excited that Logan was recognized nationally by the National Merit Scholarship Corporation," commented WHS Counselor John Harris. "Students and staff at Wahoo High School have long known that Logan is a tremendously talented person. It will be a joy to watch Logan, in the months and years to come, continue to grow as a learner and a leader."
Congratulations Logan on receiving this honor!
