Callan & Walker tapped as Pinnacle's 2017 'Outstanding High School Leaders'
WHS juniors recognized at annual awards luncheon at Midland U
Wahoo High School juniors Bret Walker and Kristin Callan were among 51 area juniors recognized by Pinnacle Bank and Midland University at the Pinnacle Bank Outstanding High School Leaders luncheon at the Wikert Event Center on the Midland University Campus.
Students were nominated by school staff members. Each nominated student completed an application and wrote an essay explaining his/her view of leadership. In addition, one staff member wrote a letter of recommendation on behalf of each student to complete the application process. A panel of community leaders sort through nominations to make the selections.
Micah Yost spoke at the awards banquet. Yost, vice president of Sightglass Capital Management in Omaha, spoke about his definition of leadership.
“Leadership is influencing people to action,” he stated. "Influence is not something that is done to others, rather it is something that is earned.”
Yost reminded the group that they should surround themselves with friends who will support them when action is needed.
Each of the attendees received a certificate, a leadership award from Pinnacle Bank and a $1,000 scholarship to Midland.
Congratulations Kristin and Bret on earning this honor!
