Two WHS Career Student Organizations to be Represented at National Conferences
Vrana & Colgan Prepare for Summer Trips to San Antonio & Orlando
Launch the media gallery 1 player“To have one student attend a National Conference is an honor, but to be represented by two students in two Career Student Organizations is even more great,” is the sentiment expressed by Barb Shanahan, WHS Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) Adviser.
Shanahan’s excitement comes from the fact that WHS’s FBLA, as well as WHS’s Family, Career, and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA), will be represented at their respective National Leadership Conferences this summer!
WHS sophomore Evann Vrana will be attending the National FBLA Leadership Conference in San Antonio, Texas June 29-July 2. Vrana got this opportunity after her great score at the State FBLA competition in Introduction to Business Communication. She also received Honorable Mention in FBLA Principles and Procedures, Proofreading, and Spelling.
Senior Patrick Colgan will be attending the National FCCLA Leadership Conference in Orlando, Florida July 8-12. Colgan received the Top Gold in the Leadership STAR Event at the Nebraska State FCCLA STAR competition.
“To have two students receive honors like this is incredible. These are the highest honors that our students can receive in these organizations, and this is an excellent reflection of our students, staff, programs, and school,” said Wahoo High School Principal Jason Libal.
FCCLA is a dynamic and effective national student organization that helps young men and women become leaders and address important personal, family, work, and societal issues through Family and Consumer Sciences Education. FCCLA has more than 220,000 members and nearly 7,000 chapters and has involved more than ten million youth since its founding in 1945.
FBLA-PBL is the largest business career student organization in the world. The high school division has 215,000 members, while the postsecondary division reaches over 11,000 college students. Exclusive membership and career recognition programs are designed for each division to provide additional personal and chapter development opportunities.
