Caleb Groff: Runza Student of the Week!
WHS senior recognized for academic, artistic & athletic excellence
Congratulations to WHS senior Caleb Groff, who was recently announced as Runza's Student of the Week!
"Balancing homework, school & community involvement, and one's personal life is a difficult challenge in high school. Some students do this so well we feel they should be recognized," commented Runza's website. "Runza Restaurants and KETV created a partnership to honor senior students for their achievements in the classroom and in the community and provide them a $500 scholarship for college."
Groff received the award for his excellence in the classroom, school activities, and in his service to the community. He is the son of Amy Groff and Dennis Groff of Wahoo, and was nominated for the award by WHS Guidance Counselor John Harris.
"Caleb is a student who has maximized his opportunities while in school," Harris stated. "He has participated in the most rigorous high school and collegiate curriculum, has been involved in a large variety of extracurricular groups and is a part of a number of broad social circles. He is well-prepared for college. I am proud to have been a part of his journey!"
Groff is ranked 1st in his class with a 3.94 GPA. He is a National Merit semifinalist, and an active participant in cross country, show choir, One Act play production, and Blue Crue. He plans to pursue a degree in engineering, and hopes to one day have a career as an astronaut working for Spacex or NASA.
Congratulations Caleb on this honor!
