Sophomore leaders attend Key Leader training
Students experience weekend, hands-on Kiwanis leadership program with NE/KS/IA peers

The Key Leader camp is a weekend, hands-on leadership program for today's young leaders. Attendance at the camp was paid for by the Wahoo Kiwanis Club.
The camp focuses on service leadership as the first, most meaningful leadership-development experience. Participants learn the most important lesson of leadership: helping others succeed. Both students were selected by their counselor, John Harris, because of their grades, attendance and their leadership potential inside and outside the classroom.
The WHS students participated in several learning sessions, including topics such as personal integrity, personal growth, excellence, listening skills and building a stronger community. The camp was attended by students from Nebraska, Kansas and Iowa; both students made many new friends.
“I now know how much people like being heard and I will think of this [Key Leader] experience whenever I am leading others,” Zeleny reported.
Christenson filled a notebook with thoughts and information while she was at the camp. She learned that personal values are important when making decisions. She also cherished the many friends she made while at the camp.
