Malousek and DuBois Named Nebraska Outstanding DeMolay Members
WHS students honored for contributions to international fraternal organization
Launch the media gallery 1 playerJunior Caleb Malousek and senior Sam DuBois were recently honored for their contributions to the DeMolay organization in the state of Nebraska. DuBois was named the Rookie of the Year in the state of Nebraska, and Malousek was named Nebraska's Outstanding DeMolay Member of the Year.
Both students are members of the Lewis M. Keene DeMolay Chapter based in Fremont.
DeMolay is an international fraternal organization, founded in 1919, that is open for membership to young men between the ages of 12 to 21. Chapter members agree to embrace the group's seven core values: filial love (love between a child and a parent), reverence for sacred things (and to respect others’ beliefs), comradeship (to be a faithful friend), fidelity (to your own values and virtues), cleanness, courtesy, and patriotism. DeMolay is associated with the Masons, and chapters participate in a number of social and civic activities.
Malousek joined DeMolay as an opportunity to meet new people and to travel across the state and the nation.
"Through all my years in DeMolay, I have met some of my best friends. It always feel like I have someone there to talk to and to be there for me,” Malousek said.
The opportunity to make new connections was a factor that pushed DuBois into joining DeMolay as well. DuBois encourages his classmates to try new adventures.
“Never be afraid to put all of yourself into a new thing. You never know what you’re going to get in return,” he commented. "My chapter leader is not only a new connection for me, but has become a mentor of mine, as well."
