Crockett receives Pinnacle's 2015 'Outstanding High School Leader' Award
WHS junior honored for her leadership skills & potential
In describing leadership, American author John C. Maxwell once commented: "A leader is one who knows the way, goes the way, and shows the way."
WHS junior Lauren Crockett has been honored for putting those words into practice.
Crockett was recently selected as a recipient of the 2015 Outstanding High School Leader Award, sponsored by Midland University and Pinnacle Bank. She was nominated by Wahoo High School Spanish Instructor Cass Griffin.
"Anyone associated with Lauren knows she is an outstanding leader. It's awesome that she is officially being recognized as such!" Griffin said. "Lauren's leadership is part of what makes Wahoo High School such a great place!"
Crockett and Ms. Griffin will attend a luncheon and awards ceremony on Friday, May 1 at the Midland University Event Center.
The Pinnacle Bank Outstanding Leaders award is presented annually to high school juniors who demonstrate outstanding leadership potential through community involvement.
Award winners who enroll at Midland University in the fall of 2015 will also receive a $1,000 scholarship. This leadership scholarship encourages students to continue to develop leadership traits well after high school. Students earning the award were nominated by a high school counselor, teacher, administrator, or other community leader.
"Lauren truly epitomizes leadership at its finest," commented WHS Principal Jason Libal. "This leadership can be easily observed in the classroom and in the athletic arena. Because of her outstanding leadership abilities, she has become a tremendous role model within our building. A huge congratulations to Lauren for receiving this award, and a huge thank you to Ms. Griffin for nominating her."
